You may remember when I found out that some kind and generous souls from across the pond had started publishing NEW Commodore 64 games on cartridge, and that I was going to try out as many as I could via emulation, then order a couple… Well, I finally did! After narrowing the field down – by …
My first Neo-Geo SHOCKBOX insert of 2014 is now ready for download. Knight’s Chance is a new aftermarket game by Neobitz. Tim Jonsson, the pixel and cover artist who worked on the game, graciously offered some high quality art assets, which made my work much easier. (Half the time when I make inserts, my time is spent cleaning …
As a Retrogamer perfectly happy playing old stuff, I rarely keep up with new releases. Most new titles cost 50% less if you wait a year, and honesty—unless you play online multiplayer—the game will be just as good or bad as the day it was released. Heck, by then the developers may have even patched …

After taking a break from making new inserts, I’ve finished up requested designs for Double Dragon and Street Hoop, as well as a new one from my personal to do list–Samurai Shodown III. My PETSCII and Basic Programming projects that I made as a kid on a Commodore 64 have been available on my site for awhile now, as ‘disk images’ for use in emulators, but outside of fellow Commodore fans, I doubt many folks found them or even knew what to do with them. I’ve now, finally gotten …

By interpreting numbers on the left and top sides of a gridded square, you fill in pixels to create an image. If the controls and interface …
Many of my posts are Nintendo related these days, but my first love, as far as old companies go, is Commodore. My first computer was a Commodore VIC-20 with a whopping THREE kilobytes of memory, and I also had access to Commodore PETs at my grade school. (By the by, PET stands for Personal Electronic …
Dear kickstarters, indiegogos and all other sourcers of crowds, I am kickstarted out. I have funded or attempted to fund quite a few game revivals, getting the band back togethers, retro projects and other, however noble, attempts to capitalize on my nostalgia. Many of you no doubt have the best of intentions (and a few …
After 17 years, John Dondzila is throwing in the towel. John was the first to program after market ‘homebrew’ games for the Vectrex with Vector Vaders in 1996, and he has since gone on to create many, many more games for the Vectrex and other classic systems. If that wasn’t enough, he also sells Vectrex …

Having my Atari 7800 power supply go ‘kaput’ finally pushed me over the edge. Every few months or so, I would peruse the Lynx section of the Best Electronics website, price out a system, and then forget about the whole thing. I had owned a Lynx when they were new in the late 80s, and …
